UTV AG, headquartered in Baden-Baden, Germany, is a global leader in biological waste treatment using semi-permeable membrane technology, with over 27 years of experience and more than 120 installations across all continents and climate zones. The company's core technology is the GORE® Cover system—a three-layer laminate consisting of two UV-stable textile fabrics bonded to a waterproof yet breathable semi-permeable membrane. When placed over compost windrows, the GORE® Cover creates a controlled "climate chamber" effect: its fine pores block odors and bioaerosols from escaping while allowing controlled gas exchange, often eliminating the need for a separate biofilter. UTV pairs the membrane with demand-controlled aeration systems using low-energy fans and high-quality measurement probes positioned inside the windrow, along with purpose-built Wickelgeräte (wrapping devices) that automate membrane handling without manual labor. A recently introduced wireless temperature monitoring system replaces cabled sensors within windrows, simplifying installation and maintenance.
