Tschuda GmbH
About
Tschuda GmbH, based near Graz, Austria, has manufactured mechanical scraper systems for wastewater treatment since 1995, with company roots tracing to 1879 when it was founded as a blacksmith's shop for stagecoach repair. The company was incorporated as Tschuda GmbH under Dipl.-Ing. Kurt Heyek in 1984, pivoted to wastewater treatment equipment in 1995–96, and expanded its production facility to approximately 3,500 m² with modern CNC machinery for stainless steel and plastic fabrication. Over 99% of components are manufactured in-house. The product line includes four patented and proprietary systems: the ERR stainless steel circular scraper (first delivered 1997) featuring weight-reduced bridge and component design for circular sedimentation tanks; the KKR plastic chain and flight scraper for rectangular tanks, described as the strongest on the market with a 50 kN (5-ton) breaking load KKR 6″ chain per US Standard NCS-720-S, hermetically welded 150×50 mm stainless steel flights, flexible 15° joint attachments with stainless steel reinforcements, Ø150×150 mm water-lubricated slide bearings guaranteeing decades of maintenance-free operation, uniform sprockets with chain-saver rims and odd-tooth count (z=23/2), and lifetime-lubricated 0.25 kW drive motors with electronic overload protection; the patented RRA antislip drive wheel system for travelling and rotating scraper bridges that contacts the vertical dry tank wall without additional crest heating, even in winter; and the patented SSR screw-conveyor scum remover using floating screw elements to remove floating layers of any thickness from primary sedimentation, aeration, and secondary sedimentation tanks. Notable installations include a KKR-L system in a 13.6 m wide × 44.3 m long final sedimentation tank at Casnigo, Italy.
