SPIR STAR AG, founded in 1989 and headquartered in Rimbach-Mitlechtern, Germany, manufactures thermoplastic high-pressure hoses with spiralized steel wire reinforcement, along with complementary valves, adapters, pipes, and quick-disconnect couplings. The company operates subsidiaries in France, the United States (Houston, TX), Singapore, and China, and has held ISO 9001 certification since 1995. SPIR STAR's hose portfolio encompasses over 100 models designated by the Type X/Y convention, where X equals the nominal inner diameter in millimeters and Y denotes the number of steel wire braid layers. Inner diameters span 3mm to 32mm, with working pressures from 250 bar to 4,000 bar (3,625 to 58,000 psi). Notable series include the UHP (ultra-high-pressure) lines — Type 5mmUHP and 5mmUHP-X — rated up to 4,000 bar for waterjet cutting and hydrodemolition, and the H (heavy-duty) variants like Type 5/6H and 5/6HDC for demanding hydraulic applications. Inner core materials include polyamide (PA), polyoxymethylene (POM), polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF), and PTFE; outer covers use PA, polyurethane (PUR), and PVDF. The OnePiece and Blast-Pro fitting series provide shortened connections for pipe cleaning and tight bends. Five industry segments define the product range: Waterjet (cutting and surface preparation), Oil and Gas (offshore bundles, chemical injection, methanol service), Hydrogen (gaseous H₂ refueling up to 962.5 bar since 2009), Ultra-High-Pressure Hydraulics (bolt tensioning, power units), and PTFE applications (automotive adhesive processes, plastics processing, conveying). All raw materials are fully traceable, and products comply with DIN EN 1829-2 and ISO 19880-5 standards.
