Sigrist-Photometer GmbH
About
Sigrist-Photometer AG, founded in 1946 by Dr. Ing. Willy Sigrist in Ennetbürgen, Switzerland, develops and manufactures high-precision process photometers and turbidity measuring instruments entirely in-house under the Swiss Made label. Sigrist pioneered flicker mirror dual-beam photometry — using a reference beam for long-term stability — a principle that still underpins the company's instruments. The AquaScat family of online turbidimeters forms the product line's core: the AquaScat 2 WTM achieves 0.001 FNU resolution using a contact-free free-fall flow cell that eliminates window fouling for drinking water monitoring per ISO 7027, while the AquaScat S provides in-line measurement directly in the water stream with zero water loss, the AquaScat 2 HT serves high-turbidity and high-temperature applications, and the AquaScat 2 P handles pressurized measurement in gaseous water. The AquaMaster multi-parameter station combines turbidity with pH, conductivity, redox, dissolved oxygen, and temperature sensors on a single pre-mounted unit. The ColorPlus line delivers inline UV absorbance measurement at 254 nm (SAC 254) for monitoring micropollutant elimination in ozone and wastewater reuse processes, with the ColorPlus 3 Nitrate adding inline nitrate measurement. The LabScat 2 provides two-angle laboratory turbidity measurement (0–500 EBC) with bottle rotation for window-deposit compensation. Complementary instruments include the OilGuard series for oil-in-water detection, TurBiScat and DualScat for brewing process turbidity monitoring (MEBAK/EBC compliant), PhaseGuard for phase separation, FireGuard 2 for tunnel smoke detection with 210 units operating in the Gotthard tunnel since 2007, and ScrubberGuard for gas scrubber monitoring. Control units range from the SiDis AD 40 single-instrument display to the SiCon PM 40 supporting up to eight sensors with a 370-day data logger.
