Shelter Works, based in St. Louis, Missouri, has designed and manufactured fiber-reinforced plastic (FRP) equipment shelters and buildings for more than three decades. Founded by Tracy Switzer, the company engineers each structure to customer specifications rather than offering only standard catalog sizes. Two proprietary technologies define their construction approach: FiberBeam integrates structural reinforcement directly into the shelter framework, while FiberWrap governs their manufacturing methodology for consistent quality and strength. Their product lineup spans fiberglass shelters, equipment enclosures and cabinets, full-size buildings, and pump houses, along with FAA-compliant frangible shelters for radar and landing systems. Every Shelter Works unit carries a 25-year warranty marketed under the Built for Life brand, reflecting the company's emphasis on corrosion resistance and long service life compared to metal or precast concrete alternatives. Shelters can be configured with custom doors, HVAC, electrical packages, skylights, and wall penetrations. Manufacturing takes place in Missouri and Ohio. The company serves water and wastewater utilities, oil and gas, energy, FAA and aviation, telecom including RF-transparent applications, mining, railroad, chemical processing, and barge- and truck-mounted shelter requirements.
