SewperCoat by Imerys
About
SewperCoat, produced by Imerys from Chesapeake, Virginia, is a 100% calcium aluminate mortar formulated to protect and rehabilitate wastewater infrastructure against H2S biogenic corrosion. Unlike polymer or resin barrier coatings that still permit acidophilic bacteria colonization on their surfaces, SewperCoat induces a bacteriostatic effect at the concrete interface, inhibiting acid generation at its source. The mortar bonds directly to damp concrete without requiring dry surface conditions, achieves high early structural strength within hours of application, and can be placed in live sewer environments with zero VOC emissions. It restores structural integrity as a solid barrier against infiltration and exfiltration, with documented durability exceeding 50 years and application thickness capability up to 25 mm or greater. SewperCoat holds CE EN 1504-3 certification and is packaged in 25 lb and 50 lb bags for the US market and 20 kg bags for Europe. Primary applications include manhole rehabilitation, pump station concrete protection, main sewer collector rehabilitation, and wastewater treatment plant structural repair. The product has been commercially available for over 30 years and is the only 100% calcium aluminate solution marketed specifically for wastewater infrastructure corrosion protection.
