Raschka Engineering Ltd
About
Raschka Engineering AG, based in Ennetbürgen, Switzerland, has specialized in fluidized bed incineration (FBI) technology since 1946, with active plant development beginning in 1981. Originally founded by Dipl.-Ing. Georg Raschka in Heidelberg, Germany, the company was acquired by Lonza Engineering AG in 2011 and rebranded as Raschka Engineering AG in 2013. Today the firm employs approximately 115 people across Swiss offices in Ennetbürgen and Winterthur, with additional engineering presence in Guangzhou and Tianjin, China, and regional partners in Singapore and Brazil. Raschka's core technology is atmospheric stationary fluidized bed incineration, covering a thermal power range from 0.5 to 85 MW. The FBI process thermally destroys sewage sludge, coal sludge, and industrial refinery waste sludge while recovering energy for power generation, steam production, or chemical process heating. The system operates auto-thermally once at temperature, requiring no auxiliary fuel for most waste streams. With over 100 reference installations across Europe and Asia, Raschka provides turn-key waste-to-energy systems encompassing waste-heat boilers, off-gas treatment, wastewater handling, and solid-residue management. The company also offers compact FBI configurations for smaller throughput requirements, catalytic oxidation systems for VOC and off-gas treatment, and modular process components including temperature control units, vacuum modules, and nanofiltration systems. Over 90% of plant components can be sourced locally in project countries to minimize capital cost.
