Purafil
About
Purafil, founded in 1969 and based in Doraville, Georgia, is a manufacturer of gas-phase air filtration systems, molecular filtration media, and emergency gas scrubbers with nearly 40,000 installations worldwide. Now affiliated with the SPHINX brand, the company is ISO 9001:2008 certified and provides build-to-order systems for corrosion control, odor control, and toxic gas mitigation. In wastewater applications, Purafil offers five scrubber platforms: the WWT Drum Scrubber (DS, 100–1,000 CFM) for pump stations, lift stations, wet wells, and force mains; the Tub Scrubber (TSS, 500–6,000 CFM) featuring 3-foot media bed depth and available in fiberglass, aluminum, or 304/316 stainless steel with MERV 6 prefiltration; the Parallel Bed Scrubber (PBS) for high horizontal airflow at screening rooms and headworks; the Vessel Scrubber (VS, 8,000–20,000 CFM) with a single-bed fiberglass vessel for large treatment plants and digesters; and the Deep Bed Scrubber (DBS) for medium-to-high contaminant levels at refineries and chemical plants meeting ISA air quality standards. Emergency Gas Scrubbers (EGS) handle catastrophic releases of chlorine, sulfur dioxide, and ammonia from 150 lbs to over 6,000 lbs. Proprietary media include OdorCarb Ultra for H2S removal, Puracarb for chlorine, H2S, and SO2 neutralization, and Puracarb AM for enhanced ammonia capture. Positive Pressurization Units (PPU) with PK-12 and PK-18 modules protect sensitive electronics from corrosive environments. The Chlorine Drum Scrubber (CDS, 100–500 CFM) addresses low-level chlorine emissions at water treatment plants. Purafil also operates laboratory services including coupon analysis, media life analysis, and room surveys.
