JOHSTADT (PF Pumpen und Feuerlöschtechnik GmbH) is a German pump manufacturer with over 160 years of heritage, headquartered in Jöhstadt in the Ore Mountains. The company began producing firefighting pumps in 1860, developed its first portable fire pump in 1921, and expanded into progressive cavity pumps for industrial and biogas applications in 1970. Manufacturing takes place in a 5,000-plus square meter facility equipped with CNC machining centers and CAD workstations. JOHSTADT produces three core product lines. In firefighting equipment, the company offers the hydrofighter portable fire pump rated PFPN 10-2000, vehicle-mounted fire pumps with self-priming devices, foam extinguishing systems, and trailer-mounted pump aggregates. In industrial pumping, the Exzenterschneckenpumpen (progressive cavity pump) line handles viscous, abrasive, and aggressive media for wastewater treatment, chemical processing, and industrial process applications, using a helical rotor rolling inside a matching stator to convey media longitudinally. In biogas and agriculture, JOHSTADT manufactures Dickstoffpumpen (high-consistency pumps) for thick, high-solids-content media and Rührwerke (agitators) for digester and tank mixing. While firefighting remains the company's primary market, the progressive cavity and high-consistency pump lines are directly applicable to municipal and industrial wastewater sludge handling, digester feeding, and dewatering operations.
