Orthos Liquid Systems
About
Orthos Liquid Systems, headquartered in Ridgeland, South Carolina, has designed and manufactured nozzle-based filter systems and components for water and wastewater treatment since 1978. The company holds NSF/ANSI approval and NQA ISO 9001 registration, and its products comply fully with the Buy American Act and American Iron and Steel requirements. A co-located warehousing facility stocks and distributes thousands of filter components for rapid shipment. Orthos's flagship product, the Poseidon Filtration System, serves conventional water treatment, wastewater tertiary filtration, biologically active filtration, membrane pretreatment, GAC adsorption and ion exchange (including PFAS removal), and denitrification applications. Supporting the Poseidon platform, the Centurion Monolithic Filter Underdrain provides a monolithic block design for long service life. The Ortho-Wash Media Retention Troughs offer baffled construction for low-freeboard filters requiring sustained air-water backwash. The Phalanx is a packaged filter system for smaller installations, while the Proteus O3+BAC Demo System enables on-site evaluation of biologically active filtration. The DDBF Denitrifying Deep Bed Filter targets nitrogen removal, and the Zephyr Forced Draft and Induced Draft Aerators provide aeration for water treatment. Orthos also manufactures what it describes as the broadest line of filter nozzles and strainers in the industry — millions of combinations across screen slot sizes, thread types, flow characteristics, and air scour tube constructions — along with resin traps and tank internals. Notable project references include the Carlsbad Desalination Plant (largest in the Western Hemisphere), Colorado Springs Edward W. Bailey WTP achieving 12 GPM/sq ft, and Hurricane, Utah's Quail Creek WTP where capacity increased from 48 to 60 MGD.
