Mercer Rubber Company
About
Founded in 1866 and headquartered at 350 Rabro Drive in Hauppauge, New York, Mercer Rubber Company is the oldest continuous US manufacturer of rubber expansion joints, with over 150 years of production history, more than 20,000 custom projects, and over one million products supplied. The company manufactures hand-wrapped rubber expansion joints constructed with solid elastomer tubes, high-strength tire cords, and steel rings in a crisscross reinforcement pattern, alongside spherical expansion joints engineered for custom flexible-connector applications. Mercer also produces Teflon connectors for chemically demanding service, flanged rubber pipe, duct connectors, and stainless steel expansion joint products. The FCR 500 Reducer is a distinct product series within their catalog. Manufacturing employs a steam curing process with in-house rubber-to-Kevlar fabric frictioning, and every product undergoes pre-shipment pressure testing. The company offers retrofit measuring services where engineers visit jobsites to take replacement measurements, custom crating for large-diameter joints, and specialized elastomer formulations including Viton for aggressive chemical environments. Mercer serves power generation, wastewater treatment, industrial processing, and marine markets, and is associated with Mason Industries. A network of over 50 sales representatives supports distribution nationwide.
