Licus ProTech

Licus ProTech is a German engineering company specializing in long-shaft agitation technology for municipal and industrial water treatment. Their flagship product, the LICUS Langwellenrührwerk (long-shaft mixer), uses a vertical shaft with a 1.8-meter propeller operating at 10–40 RPM driven by an IE5 high-efficiency gear motor. The design creates axial downward flow throughout the full tank depth, gently resuspending settled solids at the basin bottom while minimizing shear stress to protect biomass, activated sludge flocs, and MBBR carriers. A defining engineering feature is the dry-mounted drive unit positioned entirely outside the liquid medium, eliminating submersion-related wear and corrosion that plagues conventional submersible mixers. The integrated lever mechanism enables crane-free maintenance — the entire mixer assembly lifts out of the basin without mobile crane rental, reducing operational costs and simplifying permitting. Licus ProTech explicitly designs from the operator perspective, prioritizing easier maintenance access, stable biological process performance, and sustainably lower operating costs. Their energy-optimized approach combines the IE5 motor rating with efficient flow geometry to maximize circulation volume while minimizing energy consumption.
