Kugler Behälter- und Anlagenbau GmbH
About
Founded in 1964 in Nagold, Germany, KUGLER Behälter und Anlagenbau GmbH specializes in solid-liquid separation and sludge dewatering equipment with over 1,000 installations across Europe. Originally a contract manufacturing and heating oil tank business, the company pivoted to sludge treatment in 1982 when employee Klaus Bizer invented and patented the EWC dewatering container. Now part of the Prosys Industrial Solutions group since 2013 under Hartmut Schultz-Heienbrok, KUGLER has expanded into screw presses and thickeners while entering markets in Europe, Russia, and the Americas. The flagship EWC dewatering container uses an interchangeable filter basket with perforated steel and high-strength filter fabric, offering variants including the vibrating Rüttel EWC, tilting Kipp EWC, heated Absetzcontainer with 3–9 kWh thermostatic control, and an internal overflow version for sand trap dewatering, with an optional central partition that increases filter area by 34%. The Ring-Press (S-RS) and Screen-Press (S-SK) screw presses handle throughputs up to 100 m3/h with minimum feed solids as low as 0.2% TS, consuming approximately 90% less energy than centrifuges. The E-OP oval plate thickener uses rotating oval plates for self-cleaning operation, achieving 6–7% TS standard thickening and over 12% TS with optional press plates, also using up to 90% less energy than screen belt thickeners. The MAP microfiltration system offers five pore sizes from 0.2 µm to 25 µm without polymer dosing, with modular scaling and filter lifespans of 3–7 years.
Key Products
Gravity-based sludge dewatering containers in multiple variants (settling, vibrating, tilting, grease-and-grit separator, and air-conditioned) that separate water from sludge to reduce volume for disposal
Dewatering container with integrated lamella separator for enhanced sedimentation and higher throughput solids-liquid separation
Cylindrical screen basket screw press for continuous sludge dewatering, effective and economical for primary, excess, digested, and mixed sludges
Ring disc technology screw press offering extremely low maintenance and energy savings, robust even with fatty and oily sludges, with throughput up to 100 cubic meters per hour
Screw press paired with FlocFormer flocculation unit improving dewatering results by an additional 2-3 percentage points dry solids content
Oval-plate mechanical thickeners for sludge volume reduction prior to dewatering, concentrating thin sludges
Industrial separators for solid-liquid separation processes in wastewater and industrial applications
Compact sedimentation units using inclined lamella plates to increase settling area and improve clarification efficiency
