Kruger, the North American arm of Veolia Water Technologies, provides a comprehensive portfolio of proprietary water and wastewater treatment processes built around several landmark technologies. The BioStyr biological aerated filter (BAF) combines secondary biological treatment and tertiary filtration in a single compact unit using buoyant BIOSTYRENE media retained by a concrete nozzle deck, achieving BOD removal, nitrification, denitrification, and solids removal in roughly 20 percent of the footprint of conventional activated sludge. The BioStyr Duo variant layers an AnoxK5 MBBR media zone above the BAF stage to deliver combined biological treatment and filtration without requiring chemical enhanced primary treatment, producing effluent down to 10/10/1 mg/L BOD/TSS/NH3-N and total inorganic nitrogen below 1.5 mg/L with post-denitrification. Actiflo high-rate clarification uses microsand-ballasted flocculation to achieve settling velocities 40 to 100 times faster than conventional clarifiers, with over 1,100 references and 1,800 units installed worldwide across variants including Actiflo Pack Mini, Actiflo Duo, Actiflo Carb for micropollutant removal, Actiflo Disc for reuse polishing, and BIOACTIFLO for stormwater. The AnoxKaldnes MBBR platform, with over 1,000 installations, employs K5 plastic carriers in suspended-biofilm reactors for compact BOD, ammonia, and nitrogen removal. Additional technologies include ANITA Mox single-stage deammonification for high-ammonia centrate and leachate streams, NEOSEP membrane bioreactors, Hybas IFAS processes, Biodenipho and Biodenitro enhanced nutrient removal, Spidflow dissolved air flotation, and Hydrotech disc and drum filters for tertiary solids removal.
