InPipe Energy Inc., founded in 2016 by Gregg Semler and based in the Los Angeles, California area, develops and manufactures in-conduit hydroelectric energy recovery systems that generate renewable electricity from water flowing through existing pipeline infrastructure. The company's sole product, the HydroXS Energy Generation System, is a modular, patented device that installs within water utility pipelines and at hydropower facilities to convert excess water pressure into baseload electricity without environmental impact or infrastructure modification. The system is offered in two primary configurations: a water utilities version that captures energy from excess pressure in municipal distribution pipelines, and a hydropower version that integrates into existing powered and non-powered dams. InPipe Energy provides free assessments for potential installations and assists customers in accessing Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) funding that can cover up to 50 percent of project costs. CTO Mickey Connor, a licensed PE with over 15 years in product development including prior experience at GE Water, has filed 12 patents on the HydroXS technology. Notable installations include an East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD) project in California, the first utility system in the state to generate renewable power via HydroXS, and a City of Hillsboro, Oregon installation that powers a major sports venue. The company serves water utility and hydropower markets domestically and internationally.
