Helector S.A.
About
Helector S.A. is a Greek integrated waste management and environmental engineering company that operates as a full-cycle service provider — from design and construction through technology supply, financing, and operations. In 2005, Helector acquired Herhof GmbH of Solms, Germany, giving it access to proprietary waste treatment technologies with over 20 years of deployment across more than 50 facilities worldwide. Through Herhof, Helector holds the Dry Stabilat process, a patented aerobic waste treatment method that mechanically and biologically reduces residual waste in sealed bio-boxes to below 15% moisture content, producing Stabilat fuel pellets that substitute fossil fuels with 80% lower CO2 emissions. The Rottebox process provides enclosed bio-waste composting in patented container systems. For anaerobic treatment, the Dry-Wet Simultaneous (DWS) mesophilic process combines dry and wet fermentation to maximize biogas yield from high-dry-substrate organic material. Helector's separation and sorting technology integrates conveyor systems, shredders, weight-based separators, screening units, and ferrous and non-ferrous metal recovery. The LARA thermally regenerative exhaust air treatment system oxidizes hydrocarbons in a combustion chamber with ceramic heat exchangers for maximum heat recovery, complying with Germany's 30th BImSchV emission limits. In water treatment, Helector applies compact biological purification combined with membrane ultrafiltration and intermittent ventilation, as demonstrated at the Mavrorachi Leachate Treatment Plant in Thessaloniki — a 7.5 million euro facility using ultrafiltration and reverse osmosis to treat 400 cubic meters of landfill leachate per day.
