Krämer, develops and supplies solar drying and thermal recovery systems for biosolids and sludge management at water resource recovery facilities. The company's flagship Active Solar Dryer is a greenhouse-structure system that uses solar energy to reduce the volume and weight of sewage sludge and biosolids, with over 20 installations across the United States and Mexico plus additional projects in Germany, Spain, Morocco, and New Zealand. Inside the dryer, the Electric Mole automated tilling device traverses the bed to turn and aerate the material, accelerating the drying process in a manner similar to a floor robot, while the SludgeManager serves as a complementary automated tilling device for enhanced drying efficiency. For thermal conversion beyond drying, the SludgeReformer processes dried biosolids cake into inert ash, with the Type 3 unit achieving 770 pounds per hour throughput. The SludgeReformer captures heavy metals and recovers phosphorus from the ash fraction. Notable project installations include the Summerville Commissioners of Public Works in South Carolina and the Eastern Selwyn Water Resource Recovery Facility in New Zealand. The company exhibited at WEFTEC 2023 Booth 525 and partners with Thermo-System GmbH, KCI Technologies, and Harper Construction on project delivery.
