Green Steel Environmental offers a single-product strategy built around Green Steel PSR™, a patented ultra-fine granulated additive derived from a steel manufacturing byproduct that the company positions as a sustainable, upcycled alternative to conventional chemical treatments. Introduced into wastewater streams upstream of anaerobic digesters as either a slurry or dry granule, Green Steel PSR sequesters phosphorus to meet stringent discharge limits while removing 80% or more of sulfur before it converts to hydrogen sulfide gas. The additive simultaneously inhibits struvite and vivianite scaling by acting as a sacrificial nucleation surface, mitigates infrastructure corrosion as an inert material, accelerates biosolids dewatering, and serves as a natural pH buffer — all while discharging lower chloride and aluminum levels compared to ferric chloride or alum. Biosolids treated with PSR pass EPA 503, TCLP, and WET tests, qualifying for land application. Green Steel Environmental mitigates adoption risk through a pilot program that gradually introduces the additive over two to three hydraulic retention times while phasing out existing chemicals, backed by a performance guarantee covering both purchased inventory and delivery system buy-back. The company emphasizes supply chain resilience with roughly 100 domestic supply sources versus approximately seven for ferric chloride. Target markets include biogas and RNG producers, municipal wastewater facilities, dairy operations, food processing, pulp and paper, and breweries.
