About

Gooch Thermal Systems, based in Eastern Pennsylvania, is the largest American manufacturer of spiral heat exchangers with over 35 years of engineering experience. All products are custom-designed and manufactured at their ASME-certified facility holding U-Stamp, National Board NB-Stamp, and R-Stamp certifications, with Canadian CRN compliance across all provinces. The Type 1 Spiral Flow Both Sides (including model Type 1.1-H in Duplex 2205) handles liquid-to-liquid heating, cooling, and heat recovery, plus steam heating and vapor condensing, with self-cleaning passages suited for slurries and sludge. The Type 2 Cross Flow (including model Type 2-V in 316/316L SS) is designed for vacuum condensing with extremely low vapor-side pressure drop. The Type 3 Combined Cross-Spiral Flow (including model Type 3.1-H in carbon steel) accommodates mixed vapors with built-in subcooling sections and excels as a steam heater for viscous fluids. Design capabilities span plate widths from 8 to 80 inches, channel spacing from 0.1875 to 1.5 inches, heat transfer area up to 5,500 sq ft, shell diameter up to 100 inches, design pressure from full vacuum to 600 psig, and temperature from -150 to 750 degrees F. Construction materials include carbon steel, 304/304L, 316/316L, Duplex 2205, 904L, 254 SMO, AL6XN, nickel alloys, and titanium. The company also produces drop-in replacement spirals interchangeable with other manufacturers, serving chemical processing, petroleum refining, wastewater treatment, and process industries worldwide.
