FIRMUS France
About
FIRMUS France, headquartered in Clermont l'Hérault in France's Languedoc-Roussillon region, brings over 30 years of expertise in membrane separation technologies for water and wastewater treatment. The company commands the full spectrum of membrane processes—microfiltration, ultrafiltration, nanofiltration, reverse osmosis, electrodialysis, membrane electrolysis, bipolar membrane electrodialysis, and dialysis—and supports clients from feasibility study through turnkey installation and ongoing process monitoring. Its signature achievement is the FGWRS (Firmus Grey Water Recycling System), originally developed with the European Space Agency for the Franco-Italian Concordia Antarctic Research Station, where it has recycled 75–85% of greywater (producing up to 2,800 liters per day for approximately 25 people) since 2005. The system has supplied drinking-quality reclaimed water to over 1,000 Concordia personnel and is now being adapted for broader deployment through a consortium with Optimal Solutions, SHERPA Engineering, and MRI. FIRMUS also contributes to ESA's MELiSSA program via the SaRY (Salinity Reduction of Yellow Waters) initiative with QinetiQ and HYDROHM, and participates in the ANR REMemBer project on electroactive membrane bioreactors for wastewater reclamation. The company holds the Solar Impulse Efficient Solution Label and partners with UNESCO-Simev Chair and the University of Johannesburg.
