Finnchain Oy is a Finnish mechanical equipment manufacturer founded in 1982 and based in Rauma, southwest Finland. The company has delivered over 3,500 chain scraper installations across more than 60 countries over more than three decades of operation, making it one of the most experienced specialists in this niche. Finnchain designs and manufactures chain scraper systems for sedimentation tanks, grit removal channels, dissolved air flotation (DAF) units, and circular clarifiers in water and wastewater treatment plants. The company's sedimentation scrapers were originally developed for rectangular clarification tanks and remain its flagship product. For grit removal applications, Finnchain provides heavy-duty scrapers that separate and remove inorganic solids — sand, gravel, and mineral particles — from wastewater treatment headworks. Its DAF scraper systems handle dissolved air flotation tank operations where pressurized air-saturated water releases fine bubbles for solids separation. Finnchain also offers circular tank scraper systems, first installed at the Mussalo WWTP in 2003 as a replacement for conventional bridge scrapers, along with tank cover solutions including its Solar Cover system and scum removal equipment. In Nordic countries the company operates through its own organization from solution design through delivery and maintenance, while internationally it partners with regional firms. The Psyttalia project in Athens, Greece — with 128 rectangular tank scraper units — represents Europe's largest single sludge scraper delivery, and the Besos project in Barcelona comprised 90 chain scraper systems across double-layer tanks.
