EXPO-NET Danmark A/S
About
EXPO-NET Danmark A/S, headquartered in Hjørring, Denmark, is the manufacturer of BIO-BLOK structured biofilm carrier media used in biological wastewater treatment, aquaculture biofiltration, and stormwater management. Developed in the early 1980s, BIO-BLOK products are modular PVC tube-bundle blocks that maximize surface area for biofilm attachment while maintaining high void ratios for hydraulic flow. The product line spans seven distinct models differentiated by specific surface area, ranging from BIO-BLOK 80 HDG (80 m²/m³, 95% void, smooth surface, 54×54×55 cm modules) to BIO-BLOK 300 (300 m²/m³, 72% void, rough surface, 55×25.7×55 cm modules). The HDG variants with smooth surfaces serve aeration, degassing, and stormwater applications, while rough-surface models (BIO-BLOK 100 through 200) target BOD removal, nitrification (NH4), and denitrification (NO3). BIO-BLOK Random loose media (570 m²/m³, Ø25×10 mm elements) provides the highest surface density for intensive nitrification. Each module uses interlocking connection kits (Ø67.5mm or Ø55mm depending on model) for easy assembly in trickling filters and submerged contact beds. EXPO-NET provides complimentary system design consultancy and has project references across multiple continents.
Key Products
Structured plastic filter media that increase available surface area for biofilm growth in biological treatment systems, improving treatment efficiency and reducing system footprint.
Filter media sized and configured for municipal wastewater treatment applications including trickling filters and submerged contact beds.
Filter media adapted for industrial wastewater treatment with higher loading rates and specific pollutant profiles.
Compact filter media units for small-scale domestic and on-site wastewater treatment systems.
Filter media for biofiltration in recirculating aquaculture systems, providing surface area for nitrifying bacteria to convert ammonia.
Media configurations that support both aeration and degassing processes in aquaculture water treatment systems.
Filter media for biological treatment of sludge and organic waste generated in aquaculture operations.
Filter media for biological treatment of stormwater runoff, removing pollutants before discharge to receiving waters.
