Elgin Separation Solutions
About
Elgin Separation Solutions, a product line of Astec, has been manufacturing liquid/solids separation and dewatering equipment since 1864 with over 20,000 installations worldwide. The company designs, manufactures, and services equipment across two primary divisions: water intake and industrial separation. The water intake line includes Coanda screens for run-of-river intakes that use the Coanda effect for debris exclusion without moving parts; cylindrical (Tee) screens for submerged large-capacity intakes; side hill screens for gravity-driven screening; AirBurst compressed air cleaning systems for maintaining screen performance; and copper-nickel (CuNi) screen solutions with a patented coating process that resists corrosion and zebra/quagga mussel biofouling. The industrial separation line includes decanter centrifuges, screen bowl centrifuges, vertical centrifuge dryers (VCDs), and packaged mud systems, supported by in-house engineering, control panel fabrication, and field service. Through legacy brands Pennsylvania Crusher (incorporated 1905), Jeffrey Rader (roots to 1877), and Gundlach (first single-stage two-roll crusher, 1948), Elgin also manufactures roll crushers, cage mills, wood hogs, pneumatic conveyors, rotary airlocks, and positive displacement feeders. Markets served include municipal and industrial water intake, mining and aggregate, oil and gas dewatering, dredge dewatering, food rendering, industrial wastewater, recycling, trenchless construction, coal-fired power generation, and waste management.
