About

Cyclize GmbH, founded in 2023 and headquartered at Julius-Hölder Straße 14 in Stuttgart, is a climate technology startup developing non-thermal plasma reforming systems that convert mixed plastic waste and CO2 into circular syngas. The company was co-founded by Maike Lambarth (CEO), Dominik Novakovic (CFO), Jan Samuel Stein (COO), and Dr. Stephan Renninger (CTO). Cyclize's core technology uses an electrically driven plasma discharge that generates energetic electrons within a comparatively cool bulk gas, cleaving C–H, C–C, and C–O bonds in organic compounds and CO2 to produce a defined mixture of hydrogen and carbon monoxide. Unlike conventional gasification or pyrolysis, the process requires no pre-sorting of waste feedstocks and can handle contaminated, multi-layer, and mixed plastics alongside industrial CO2 streams. The resulting syngas serves as a drop-in replacement for fossil-derived syngas in existing chemical industry infrastructure. Cyclize operates a 50 kW pilot plant in Stuttgart and is developing a 3,000-hour industrial demonstration pilot in Schwedt. The company has secured over €7 million in public and equity funding from HTGF, UVC Partners, Aurum, EXIST Research Transfer, and the Federal Ministry, and plans a 300 kg/h first-of-a-kind plant by 2028, scaling to a 10 MW industrial plant by 2030. Cyclize won the Stuttgart Innovation Award and was selected for the Cleantech 50 to Watch list.
