Cosmic Engineering GmbH, based in Kasten, Austria, has developed specialized robotic rehabilitation equipment for sewer systems since the early 1990s and holds the position of worldwide market leader in hat-profile pipe rehabilitation with more than 150,000 installed TopHat units globally. The company's central innovation is its integrated TopHat System, which provides a complete trenchless rehabilitation workflow from a single supplier — combining remote-controlled inspection and repair robots, swappable modular tool attachments, and proprietary glass fiber laminate (GRP) rehabilitation materials. The flagship C120E crawler robot enters sewers through manholes and can inspect, mill, clean, and repair damaged sections within pipes from DN 100 to 900mm, completing a spot repair in 12–15 minutes with a 10-minute UV-LED cure that requires no flow diversion. The GRP rehabilitation material is non-shrinking and self-supporting, with tested bonding longevity rated at 50 years. The product range includes the C120E main-line robot, CS100/H100 lateral connection robot, B100 stretchable-liner system, and QuickSeal sectional liner. Proprietary TopHat and short-liner materials use ECR glass impregnated with polyester or vinyl ester resin, supplied on 35-meter rolls in widths of 0.5m, 1m, and 1.25m. A US subsidiary, COSMIC TOPHAT LLC in Torrance, California, handles North American distribution and support.
