Claros Technologies, headquartered in Minneapolis, Minnesota and co-founded by CEO Michelle Bellanca, is a PFAS-focused environmental technology company that develops and manufactures the ClarosTechUV PFAS destruction system and provides analytical services through ClarosLabs. Incubated at the University of Minnesota, Claros addresses the full spectrum of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances using a proprietary enhanced UV-photochemical process that achieves 99.99% destruction of all target PFAS types, including ultra-short chain compounds from C2 through C8 and above that conventional technologies cannot effectively treat. The ClarosTechUV system operates near standard temperature and pressure, breaking the carbon-fluorine bond with minimal energy input, and is configurable for both batch and continuous high-flow operations. A key deployment advantage is the ability to position the system upstream of filtration infrastructure, reducing loading on expensive downstream treatment trains and generating substantial cost savings. The system has been validated through independent third-party evaluation, including a demonstration at the MPCA Lake Elmo, Minnesota groundwater site achieving 99.99% destruction of PFAS in contaminated groundwater. ClarosLabs provides PFAS detection and analytical services including combustion ion chromatography for total organofluorine measurement and high-resolution mass spectrometry for speciated PFAS identification of long, short, and ultra-short chain compounds. The company also offers an Attorney-Client Privileged Analytical Assessment program enabling organizations to evaluate PFAS liabilities in a privileged legal setting. Claros serves PFAS manufacturers, semiconductor facilities, airports, waste management sites, and municipal water systems worldwide.
