Christian Stoehr GmbH & Co. KG manufactures the Hel-X family of biofilm carrier media at its plant in Marktrodach, Germany. A third-generation family business marking its centenary in 2025, the company makes every product domestically using proprietary processes refined in an in-house research laboratory, and carries DIN EN ISO 9001:2015 certification. Carrier formats range from the original helical Hel-X element for moving-bed, fluidized-bed, and swirling-bed reactors to the highly porous Hel-X Flake, the Flake 30 version for heavily loaded compact plants, rod-shaped Stangen, and Cluster media for combined suspended and fixed-bed duty. Beyond municipal and industrial wastewater treatment, aerobic and anaerobic alike, the carriers see service in recirculating aquaculture and koi breeding, biogas plants, gas scrubbing and cooling, and exhaust-air purification. Stoehr belongs to the German water association DWA.
