Charter Machine Company / Elode USA
About
Charter Machine Company, operating through its ELODE USA division, is a U.S. manufacturer of biosolids dewatering and drying equipment headquartered in Metuchen, New Jersey. Originally founded in 1968 as a family machine shop and now a subsidiary of Graphic Equipment Corporation, the company draws on over 75 years of precision manufacturing heritage and acquired Roediger thickening technology. The ELODE Electro-Osmotic Dehydrator is the flagship product line, using non-thermal electro-osmosis to dewater belt-pressed sludge from approximately 15 percent dry solids to 45 percent dry solids, reducing sludge volume by roughly 60 percent in approximately three minutes while consuming nine times less energy than thermal drying. ELODE models range from the EODS-500 with a 0.5-meter belt and 40 kW power rating to the EODS-3000 with a 3-meter belt and 180 kW rating. The companion EVD Evaporative Dryer, including the EVD-1200 model, uses heat-pump-based evaporative drying to achieve up to 95 percent dry solids for Class A biosolids when paired downstream of the ELODE system. Charter Machine also manufactures the Sentry Regent 15-roll three-belt high-solids press, the Tower Press two-belt press, the Royal Screw Press, gravity belt thickeners, rotary drum thickeners, sludge baggers, and screw and belt conveyors. The company supplies dry and emulsion polymer systems, lime post-treatment equipment, and operates one of the largest mobile dewatering rental fleets in the United States, serving municipal, industrial, agricultural, and food and beverage clients. All products are made in the USA.
