Cembrane A/S is a Danish membrane technology company based in Lynge that designs and manufactures silicon carbide flat-sheet membranes for water and wastewater treatment applications. The company's core product, the SiCBLOX FX Series, uses reinforced silicon carbide ceramic flat-sheet membranes operating in a submerged vacuum-driven outside-in filtration mode across the microfiltration and ultrafiltration range. Each SiCBLOX FX module contains 42 individually interchangeable membrane sheets and can be stacked up to 15 modules high in a single filtration tower with integrated aeration, permeate collection, and sprinkler systems. This stacking architecture provides 14 percent more membrane area per tower compared to prior designs. Cembrane's SiC membranes deliver high throughput and chemical resistance, tolerating saline and aggressive water conditions with full chemical compatibility. All flat-sheet membranes are certified to NSF 61 and NSF/ANSI 419 drinking water standards, qualifying them for potable water applications. Key application areas include membrane bioreactor systems, sand filter upgrades where SiC membranes replace conventional media to boost capacity without new infrastructure, sand filter backwash water recovery, and direct drinking water filtration. The company operates a dedicated SiC manufacturing facility in Texas and has deployed commercial installations across multiple countries. Cembrane is establishing a Certified Partner Program to expand its global distribution and service network, positioning its ceramic membrane technology as a durable, long-life alternative to polymeric membranes for sustainable water reuse and safe drinking water production.
