CCI BioEnergy
About
CCI BioEnergy, founded in 1992 and based in Oakville, Ontario, Canada, is an organics processing company that designs, builds, operates, owns, and finances facilities converting municipal organic waste into recoverable resources. The company's core technology is the proprietary BTA Process, a hydromechanical preprocessing system featuring a pulper for feedstock preparation and a grit removal system (GRS) that achieves over 99.8 percent organic capture and better than 99.9 percent contaminant rejection. The BTA Process handles source-separated organics including food waste and materials collected in plastic or biodegradable bags. Downstream anaerobic digestion employs mesophilic single-stage fermenters operating at 35 to 38 degrees Celsius, with biogas mixing for fibrous feedstocks or top mixing for floating-prone materials and no internal moving parts to reduce maintenance. Digested output is pasteurized for liquid fertilizer or dewatered via centrifuges and screw presses to approximately 30 percent dry matter. CCI BioEnergy delivers complete SSO processing plants, MSW organics mechanical-biological treatment facilities, and co-digestion systems paired with sewage sludge. Delivery models range from Design-Build-Own-Operate to P3 partnerships and supply-only packages. Notable installations include the Toronto Disco Road facility, processing 75,000 tonnes per year with expansion capacity to 125,000 tpy, and the Varennes Semecs biomethanization plant in Quebec.
