About
Caterpillar Electric Power, a division of Caterpillar Inc. based in Peoria, Illinois, manufactures diesel and natural gas generator sets for standby, prime, and continuous power applications. The diesel generator lineup includes models from compact units through the 3512 (1,250 ekW standby, V-12, 3,161 in³ displacement) and 3512B (1,500 ekW standby, V-12, 3,574 in³ displacement, ADEM A3 electronic governor), spanning voltage ranges from 380 V to 13,800 V. The gas generator portfolio ranges from the DG100 (100 ekW, 6.2L V8 spark-ignited dual-fuel) through the G-Series standby line spanning 400–3,120 kW, including the G3412 (500 ekW), G3512 (750–1,000 kW), G3516 (1,500 ekW), and G3520 (2,000–3,120 kW) with FAST RESPONSE technology. Gas standby units meet NFPA 110 Level 1 Type 10 compliance with start times as fast as 6.5 seconds and accept 100% rated load in a single step. All Cat generator sets carry UL 2200 listing, CSA certification, and IBC Seismic pre-approval. The GC Diesel Standby line provides value-engineered alternatives with reduced installation costs and smaller footprints. Caterpillar supports its power systems through a network of over 1,800 dealer branches across 200 countries with 24/7 service availability, 99% parts availability, and a 24-hour response guarantee. In water and wastewater treatment, Cat generators provide critical backup power for pump stations, treatment processes, and SCADA systems during utility outages.
