BDP EnviroTech LLC is a wastewater treatment technology company established in 1992 by founder and CEO Eric Li, who created the initial R&D center in Beijing before expanding to the company's Baltimore, Maryland, headquarters with additional branches in the United States, Germany, France, and China. The company's core technology is the Biological Double-efficiency Process (BDP), which achieves simultaneous aerobic and anaerobic microbial treatment in a single-step process — a capability BDP claims is unprecedented in the wastewater treatment industry. Six patented technologies underpin the BDP process: Microbiological Technology employing low dissolved oxygen and high-concentration activated sludge conditions, Aeration Technology generating uniform small-bubble aeration with large surface area coverage, Airlift Technology using air as a lifting power to produce high-flow circulation at less than half the energy consumption of conventional systems, High Proportional Cyclic Dilution recirculating influent up to 1,000 times through the treatment zone, a Rapid Clarification System that continuously separates and returns sludge, and Integral Structure combining SS, COD, nitrogen, and phosphorus removal within a single treatment tank. BDP reports removal efficiencies of up to 99 percent ammonia nitrogen, 95 percent COD, 95 percent total nitrogen, and 75 percent total phosphorus. The process scales from 0.06 MGD to 300 MGD for municipal applications, with a mobile system option handling 32,000 GPD in portable baker tanks. Industrial applications include mining, manufacturing, dyeing, pharmaceutical, refining, and chemical wastewater. The company was featured in an EPA publication on emerging wastewater treatment technologies.
