Aquaculture Systems Technologies LLC (AST), headquartered at 2120 North 3rd Street in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, is a water filtration manufacturer founded by Dr. Ron Malone based on technology developed at Louisiana State University's Civil and Environmental Aquatics Systems Laboratory in the early 1990s. Dr. Malone serves as President and CTO with over 20 years of engineering and manufacturing experience. AST's core technology is EN Media, a proprietary packed bed of floating beads that functions as a fixed-film reactor with high specific surface area, delivering simultaneous mechanical filtration and biological treatment in a single compact unit. The company positions itself as the world leader in bead filter design. Key wastewater products include the Recirculating PolyGeyser Filter and the High Profile PolyGeyser Filter, both featuring air-driven backwash technology for maintenance-free operation that eliminates complex mechanical backwash components.
