Aquagga
About
Aquagga, based in Tacoma, Washington, develops and manufactures industrial PFAS destruction systems using its proprietary HALT (Hydrothermal Alkaline Treatment) technology. HALT operates at subcritical temperature and pressure conditions combined with sodium hydroxide to break carbon-fluorine bonds, achieving 99% to 99.99% mineralization of PFAS compounds without combustion or hazardous byproducts. The product lineup includes three series scaled to different throughput needs: the Colt Series (1-2 gph pilot unit), the Steed Series (5-20 gph mid-range), and the Stampede Series (50-150 gph full-scale industrial unit). Each system incorporates PLC-based automation, touchscreen HMI, automated safety interlocks, and continuous-flow processing with remote monitoring capability. All units carry ASME-code design and manufacturing. Aquagga is the exclusive licensee of the foundational HALT patent from the Colorado School of Mines and holds an exclusive license to hydrothermal processing intellectual property from the University of Washington. The company serves three primary markets: industrial wastewater (fluorochemical, pharmaceutical, semiconductor fabrication), environmental remediation (AFFF stockpile disposal, military and defense sites), and solid waste and landfill leachate treatment. Aquagga has received funding from EPA, DOD, DARPA, DOE, and NSF, and won the EPA Innovative Ways to Destroy PFAS Challenge in 2022 and World Economic Forum Uplink Top Innovator recognition in 2025.
