Ameron Water Transmission Group
About
Ameron Water Transmission Group, now integrated into Northwest Pipe Company, is a legacy manufacturer of concrete and steel pipeline systems for water and wastewater infrastructure. Founded in 1907 as American Pipe and Construction Company and renamed Ameron in 1970, the company pioneered Bar-Wrapped Concrete Cylinder Pipe (CCP) in 1942 — a composite structure pairing a steel cylinder with helically wrapped mild steel bar reinforcement and centrifugally cast cement mortar lining and coating, which later became the basis for AWWA C303. Their current product portfolio under Northwest Pipe includes Bar-Wrapped Concrete Pipe designed for cost-efficient materials, handling, and installation, and Engineered Steel Water Pipe described as lightweight, manufactured to order, seismic-resistant, and built for decades of service. The InfraShield Joint System provides geohazard-resistant steel pipe connections. Additional Ameron legacy products include heavy-wall large-diameter steel pipe, reinforced concrete pipe for low-pressure and gravity-flow applications, and T-Lock and Arrow-Lock PVC sheet linings for corrosion protection. Pipe diameters extend to 72 inches. Notable installations include 320 miles of 48-inch and 54-inch CCP on the Al-Hunayy Water Transmission Project in Saudi Arabia. Applications span water transmission lines, inverted aqueduct siphons, sewer force mains, power plant cooling water, sewer outfalls, storm drains, culverts, tunnel liners, and penstocks.
