About

American AVK Company, founded in 1985 in San Francisco and now operating a 180,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Minden, Nevada, is a U.S. manufacturer of valves, fire hydrants, and accessories for the water, wastewater, fire protection, and irrigation markets. A subsidiary of the global AVK Group comprising over 70 companies, American AVK pioneered the resilient seated gate valve design — among the first valve manufacturers worldwide to develop this product — and has continuously refined it for quality and reliability. The company began manufacturing gate valves in Fresno in 1990 and expanded into dry barrel and wet barrel hydrants in 1993. Their product portfolio includes resilient seated gate valves with stainless steel stems backed by a 10-year warranty, concentric disc butterfly valves (through 24 inches) and double eccentric butterfly valves (through 48 inches, introduced in 2018), swing check and ball check valves, dry barrel fire hydrants (Series 2700 and 2780 with 25-year warranty on the one-piece valve), wet barrel hydrants in ductile iron or stainless steel with FlowGuard II check valve, UL/ULC listed and FM approved fire protection valves, fusible HDPE ball and butterfly valves, and eccentric plug valves designed for wastewater applications with fibrous particles. Distribution centers in Nashville, Tennessee and Omaha, Nebraska serve North, Central, and South America and the Caribbean.
