AkzoNobel Powder Coatings GmbH, operating through its Resicoat brand, has developed and manufactured thermosetting epoxy powder coatings for heavy-duty corrosion protection of water and gas infrastructure for over 50 years. The company is a member of GSK (Quality Association for Heavy-Duty Corrosion Protection of Valves and Fittings) and EADIPS/FGR, and its products hold international drinking water approvals including ANSI/NSF 61, BS 6920, and WRAS certification. The flagship Resicoat R4 series has accumulated over 40 years of proven field durability on buried drinking water infrastructure, as confirmed by an independent 25-year field test conducted in Bad Bentheim, Germany, where valves and fittings coated with Resicoat were unearthed after a quarter century with no delamination, cracking, or corrosion. The newer Resicoat R8 represents the next generation, offering enhanced sustainability with BPA-label-free safety data sheets per GHS standards while maintaining the same high-performance corrosion protection. Both R4 and R8 are applied as single-layer thermosetting epoxy coatings via electrostatic spray or fluidized bed methods at recommended film thicknesses of 300–400 micrometers. The coatings protect cast iron and steel valves, fittings, hydrants, water storage tanks, pumps, and pipelines in both drinking water and gas distribution networks. Resicoat also offers product lines for chemical-resistant applications facing elevated temperature and pressure loads, with documented resistance to seawater, mineral acids, caustic soda, and hydrocarbons.
