Akron Electric, Inc., a division of Akron Foundry Co., manufactures aluminum explosion-proof enclosures and electrical systems from its facility at 1025 Eagon Street in Barberton, Ohio. The company produces 75 sizes of aluminum enclosures for hazardous-location environments, all carrying NEMA 7, 9, 4, 4X, and 3 ratings and certified to UL, CSA, ATEX, and IECEx standards. Their product line includes junction boxes in external-flange (AXJ), flat-cover (AXJ-FCS), and internal-flange (EXI, AXI) configurations, plus solid, glass, and domed screw-top variants (XJATS, XJATG, XJATD). Control stations range from external-flange (CXJ) and internal-flange pendant (CXI) models to instrument housings (XJIH, XJIHD) and screw-top configurations (XJCTS, XJCTG, XJCTD). Electrical distribution products include circuit breakers (XCB), disconnect switches (XND, XFD), lighting and power distribution panel boards (CXJ-FC), and motor control enclosures spanning across-the-line starters (XNAS, XRAS), non-reversing magnetic combos (XNTC, XNMC), and reversing magnetic combos (XRTC, XRMC). Conduit fittings complete the line with outlet boxes (AXC), outlet bodies (GR), sealing fittings (EYS), and conduit unions (TU).
