Adapco Environmental Solutions
About
Adapco Environmental Solutions (AES) was a division of ADAPCO Inc. specializing in municipal odor control for water and wastewater systems, headquartered in Sanford, Florida. Originally operating as Precision Control Technology (PCT) before rebranding in 2006, AES developed proprietary chemistries and instrumentation targeting hydrogen sulfide and mercaptan odor in collection systems and treatment plants. Their flagship product, Vulchur, is a patented aqueous amine resin solution that chemically scavenges H2S and mercaptans, converting them into water-soluble, non-volatile polysulfides. It functions as a direct drop-in replacement for caustic soda and bleach in wet scrubber systems without increasing pH, and deposits a protective coating on pipe walls that disrupts bacteria slime layers, reduces corrosion, and loosens grease buildup in lift stations. AES also produced the SRC-V Series Sensor/Recorder/Controller, an industrial computer system integrating airborne H2S sensors with custom software for automated chemical dosing control and data logging. In 2008, Q2 Technologies (a joint venture of Quaker Chemical Corp. and Quima Intl.) acquired AES's assets, merging the Vulchur product line and odor control patents into Q2's Environmental Solutions Division under vice president Ian Knapp, which continues to supply these products.
