AA Thread Seal Tape, Inc., founded in 1979 and headquartered in Wauconda, Illinois, is one of North America's largest distributors of PTFE thread seal tapes and a major producer of polyethylene encasements (polywrap) for ductile iron pipe. The company serves the water and wastewater infrastructure installation and maintenance market, offering products organized into six main categories: PTFE thread seal tapes (sourced from USA, Italy, and China, plus their proprietary Blue Seal variant), PTFE universal joint sealant and valve stem packing, polyethylene pipe encasements, underground marking and detection products, pipe wrapping and electrical tapes, and industrial supplies. Their flagship product, VB3 Enhanced Polywrap, is a three-layer co-extruded 8-mil linear low-density film whose inner surface is infused with an antimicrobial biocide to combat microbiologically influenced corrosion (MIC) and a volatile corrosion inhibitor (VCI) to suppress galvanic corrosion. Independent testing per ASTM E2180 demonstrated VB3 reduced bacterial growth by over 99% compared to standard polywrap, which showed a slight increase in bacteria. Standard polywrap offerings include 8-mil rolls in black, blue, green, purple, and clear; 12-mil in blue and clear; and cross-laminated 4-mil and 10-mil options.
