About
A.Y. McDonald Mfg. Co., founded in 1856 by Andrew Young McDonald in Dubuque, Iowa, is one of America's oldest family-owned manufacturers — now in its sixth generation of McDonald family leadership. The company operates three core divisions from facilities in Dubuque and Albia, Iowa; Elizabethton, Tennessee; and Dickeyville, Wisconsin. Its Water Works division is the largest, producing an extensive line of corporation stops, curb stops, service saddles, meter valves, meter setters and resetters, copper insetters, iron yokes, curb boxes, pit setters, meter boxes, and dual check valves for backflow prevention. Notable innovations include the Unmeasured Flow Reducer (UFR) and a broad range of sampling stations. The Plumbing division manufactures ball valves, gate valves, check valves, supply stops, hose bibbs, sillcocks, PEX and press-fit fittings, threaded fittings, tank tees, and pressure reducing valves for residential and commercial applications. The Natural Gas division produces residential and industrial meter bars (standard, bypass, and manifold configurations), portable bypass kits, regulators, gas valves, and meter set assemblies. A.Y. McDonald also operates A.Y. University for industry training and maintains Build America, Buy America compliance across its product lines.
